It's always nice to have professional advice, especially when it comes to your skin. Here are our professional skin care tips to live by:
1. TREATMENT PREP
Prepping for a skin care treatment such as a chemical peel is one of the best things you can do to increase the effectiveness of the peel. The reason being it starts to build up your tolerance for the chemical peel itself, therefore aiding in your results of the actual peel. Usually the esthetician will have you purchase a pre-treatment kit when you have the initial chemical peel consultation. It contains either an AHA based, or glycolic based cleanser. The acids in these products build up the resistance for the chemical peel, and also gives the esthetician a good idea as to how your skin may react to the peel itself.
2. EXFOLIATE BEFORE MASKING
Exfoliation is an essential part of skin care. It smooths and polishes the feel and look of the skin. Normally done 2-3 times a week depending on the skin type, for example, if you have sensitive skin you will exfoliate 1-2 times per week, normal to oily skin we recommend 2-3 times a week. When you exfoliate applying a mask after is the best way to get nutrients into the skin. Exfoliating it gets rid of all the dead skin cells that are blocking your masks and serums from fully benefitting the skin. For a fresh bright look exfoliate and mask! The Pumpkin Heat Exfoliating Mask has an ingredient called Pumpkin Ferment Extract, this ingredient helps promote and even exfoliation, it also has Zeolite which gives it a nice warming effect.
3. MASKING
Masking is an excellent aid in the fight against aging. When looking for a mask, our preference is to do one for anti-aging and one for fighting whatever issues arise that week. For example, the PhytoMud Pore Minimizing Mask is great for breakouts; whether they appear all over or just in spots here and there, it can be put on the whole face or only as a spot treatment. This mask is great one of the ingredients that I found just amazing is the Solanum Lycopersicum (tomato) Extract helps with naturally cleansing and balancing. Santalum Album ( Sandalwood) oil is an antiseptic that helps calm, balance and softens all while moisturizing the skin. The Soothing Recovery Mask is an excellent anti-aging mask, it has Cooper, Zinc And Vitamin K, all of which are amazing ingredients for firming the skin and preventing collagen loss.
3. USE A TONER MIST
Toner mist is a great way to give your face a quick hydration spritz when doing your facial routine in the morning. Its fast and you don’t need cotton rounds to pat it in! During the day sometimes, if you notice your skin is looking dehydrated and dull, mist your face, and it will leave your skin looking fresh and won't mess up your makeup. Among other amazing ingredients the PureEssence Toner from Cara contains Tocopherol (vitamin E) which is a natural moisture binder, it improves moisture softness and smoothness.
4. ALWAYS MOISTURIZE
How to pick a moisturizer depends on what your skin type and condition is. Here in Alberta, it seems that every skin condition is dehydrated. Looking for something hydrating does not mean you are looking for something oily, it’s a common misconception that people think, their skin feels tight and at times scaly and they just assume they have dry skin. That’s how the wrong products end up being used for the skin resulting in breakouts. Cara’s
