Being a business owner can be stressful at times. As your company grows, so do the responsibilities. We have a few things in our office that help us get through the tough moments and help our team to remain focused on the end goal. If you are a business owner yourself, we hope these tips from a business owner will provide some value.
As you fulfill the daily duties of running your small business be mindful, present, and appreciative of what you and your team are building together. Don’t forget to celebrate the small victories and wins in your day, week, month or year. Take time to celebrate your failures. You’ll grow as a team by understanding that everyone makes mistakes.
Communicate everything. Communication to your clients to clearly outline pricing or upcoming events and specials ensure your clients understand your business. Communication within your team is essential to ensure your business runs smoothly. Ensure you have an active forum for communicating business matters with your staff. We find that a weekly staff meeting keeps our entire staff in the know of what’s coming up for the week. From there each team has its breakout meetings to communicate their own departments’ tasks as needed. Continual communication to your clients or your team ensures that you are communicating clearly and effectively.
Don’t forget to invest in yourself. Invest in learning a new skill in your treatment room to grow your business. Take a course on marketing or public relations to learn how to advertise your business to potential clients better. The more you know, the better you’ll be able to adapt to any changes that may come your way.
Build relationships. Build relationships with employees, colleagues, clients and your community. Building a network will help to grow your business. Take the time to get to know your clients; they are the reason you do what you do. Happy clients will tell their friends, which may result in a new client.
Lastly, don't take yourself so seriously! Don’t forget to enjoy yourself, have fun, laugh and don’t sweat the small stuff. Enjoy where you’re at, enjoy where you’re going and have fun with the people you’re doing it with.
