Using Serums in the Treatment Room

Using Serums in the Treatment Room

Here at Cara, our goal is to provide professional grade skin and facial care solutions that deliver proven results and surpass the expectations of skin care professionals and clients. Each Cara serum is versatile in that they can be used at home or in the treatment room.

To help you, (the professional) we have put together a quick guide to our serums and how they pertain to the treatment room.

The Vit A Retinol Serum and Glyco-15 Corrective Serum are both PM use only, so we advise that your clients are leaving your treatment room with the proper sun exposure to avoid damaging their skin post-treatment.  Use these two serums on your client's face and dècollète, but avoid the eyes or mucous membranes.

The remainder of our serums (Bio-Peptide Firming Serum, Hydra Calm Soothing Serum, Amicelle Anit-Line Serum, Platinum CC Anti Age Serum) can be used day and night with no restrictions.  Although we do recommend for optimal use, it is best if each serum is used both day and night.

How to add a serum into a treatment? Even though each of our serums can be utilized in the treatment room,

we recommend the Hydra Calm Soothing Serum for your go-to post-treatment serum.  Best used following a microdermabrasion, laser treatments, chemical peels, microplaning/ blading, micro-needling, hydrafacial and any other more abrasive treatment. The Hydra Calm Soothing Serum will help calm, soothe and reduce redness in the skin and make your clients skin feel protected as well a show them you took an extra step after treatment for their skin.

Some additional advice for working with serums in the treatment room to turn any basic facial into a more advanced one:

  • When the skin is still a little bit supple from the toner and not completely dried in add the serum
  • Massage the serum into targeted facial lines and muscle points and always allow it to absorb completely
  • Make your serums go an extra step and penetrate deeper by adding in bonuses such as anaferesis, caterfersis, and rubberizing masks
